Welcome to the Canberra Forest Cats Club. We invite you to browse through our site to learn more about the breeds of Forest Cats, our Club, find a breeder or locate the details of our upcoming shows.
Forest Cats are native to the taiga region of the world. The taiga is a snow forest that stretches over Eurasia and North America, located near the top of the world, just below the tundra.
There are three recognised breeds of Forest Cats: the Maine Coon, native to the USA; the Norwegian Forest Cat, native to Norway; and the Siberian, native to Russia.
Many kinds of animals live in the taiga, including the 300 kilogram Siberian tiger, the largest cat in the world. All animals have to be well-adapted to the cold, and this is why the Forest Cat breeds have many features in common. They are all large, well-boned cats with semi-long, thick and water-proof coats.
